ABOUT THE ARTIST
Artist's Background
Terry Ananny was born in 1956 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. With a rich and vivid palette the artist
recaptures the colourful splendor of village scenes and children at play in
the great Canadian outdoors. While growing up the artist was influenced by
her Great Uncle Charles C. Wakefield who was a painter and contemporary of
the Group of Seven. Visits to her
Uncle’s East Toronto studio and original paintings hanging in her parent’s
home encouraged the artist to paint from an early age. Summers were spent at the family cottage in
Bracebridge, Muskoka, sketching and painting the beautiful Muskoka lakes and
hillsides. Between 1968 and 1971 the
artist travelled several times to the Charlevoix and Granby areas of Quebec
were she experienced the warm and friendly hospitality of Quebec families
while learning to speak French. The
beautiful Quebec landscape was forever etched in the artist’s memory. Terry Ananny resides with her family in
Ottawa, Ontario where she continues to paint full time.
